Hattiesburg Foundation Co. serves Forrest, Lamar, and Perry counties and out into Marion, Covington, and Jones. The elevation survey is free throughout with no travel charge, and the written scope is yours whether or not you hire us.
By county, and what the ground does there
Forrest County
Hattiesburg itself and Petal across the Leaf River. The county holds both floodplain and upland ground within short distances, which is the clearest local demonstration that the material under a house is not a town-wide constant.
Lamar County
The widest spread of housing age we work across: the newest engineered pads at Oak Grove, an old county-seat core at Purvis, acreage at Sumrall, and sawmill-era raised housing at Lumberton. Four different first questions in one county.
Oak Grove · Purvis · Sumrall · Lumberton
Perry County
Sandier upland ground out toward Richton, where the failure mode shifts. Sand does not cycle with moisture the way clay does, but it moves when water moves through it, taking support with it.
Marion, Covington and Jones
The Pearl River at Columbia, genuinely rural property around Seminary, and a college-town mix of family homes and rental stock at Ellisville. Older housing predominates, so raised construction appears more often than in the newer suburbs.
Columbia · Seminary · Ellisville
What changes between them
| Where | Dominant situation | First question we ask |
|---|---|---|
| Newest subdivisions | Placed fill still consolidating over natural layering | How old, and is the builder warranty open |
| Old town cores | Placed on natural grade, directly on whatever the layering is | Roughly what decade |
| Sawmill-era and rural stock | Raised pier-and-beam — supports fail before soil does | Slab, or crawl space |
| Acreage | Water crossing open ground before it reaches the house | Where does it run in a downpour |
| Sandier uplands | Fines washing out and voids opening | Has anything changed suddenly rather than gradually |
The same free survey everywhere
The elevation contour corner to corner, dated crack measurements, an exterior water review, and a written scope naming which sections need support and which do not. On raised housing it starts underneath instead. See what the work costs or book the visit.
Service area questions
Is a Richton job priced differently from one in town?
Not by us. The work is priced by how much of the footprint needs support, and mileage does not change that. What differs is other quotes, because travel has to be absorbed somewhere and not every company shows you where it went.
Why organise by county rather than by distance?
Because the counties genuinely differ in what is underfoot and what was built on it. Lamar alone spans the newest engineered pads and the oldest raised housing we see. Distance from our truck is not a useful way to think about your foundation.
Do you work outside these counties?
Sometimes. Tell us the address when you call and we will say plainly whether we are the right company. Finding that out on the phone costs nothing; finding it out after an hour of driving wastes your day as well as ours.

Tell us which rooms are affected and which are not. On interbedded ground that contrast is the most useful thing you can give us — a house where the front is fine and the back bedroom is dropping is telling us something about what each end is sitting on. Same working day reply.
